I have been developing my photography skills since 1994, the same year I embarked on a career in the motion picture industry. Alongside my still photography endeavors, I have worked on major motion pictures, television commercials, television shows and PBS documentaries as a lighting and grip technician. It is on these motion pictures projects where I have been able to learn from some of the best cinematographers in the industry on how to approach the art of lighting.
During this time I have made a personal study of photographic portraiture , especially that of the great Hollywood photographers of the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s.
The combination of these two experiences has led to my interest in lighting and photographing people in the classic black and white style of the early 20th century.
